Youth @City Council is a civic engagement program that takes place at City Hall and in the community of Rancho Cordova. In this program students come to gain knowledge of local government, the role and function of City Council, develop leadership skills, and network with peers and local government officials. The ultimate goal of this program is to highlight the power that youth have in a community and the importance of being civically engaged. Youth leaders will create 3 mock ordinances by the end of the program and host a Mock City Council Meeting to share and vote on their mock ordinances.
Particpants conduct a yearly Community Assessment Survey to understand what are the top concerns and interests of youth residents. Participants get to create informational and educational presentations that offer solutions on how the City of Rancho Cordova can address youth resident concerns.
There is a 100 stipend.
