Real Talk & Leadership is a leadership and advocacy program that is uniquely tailored to various school sites in Sacramento City Unified School District and Elk Grove Unified School district. This program invites students into a safe space to be able to discuss and explore topics that they’re passionate and/or curious about: immigration rights, healthy relationships, mental health & wellness, substance prevention, voting rights, sex and gender identity, climate justice, racial injustice, and more. From their interest, students are trained to carry out a youth-led advocacy project/campaign by the end of the school year.
This program strives to help students hone in the ability to analyze their own strengths and weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, and have the self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and abilities to carry them out (including the ability to establish support networks in order to fully participate in community life and effect positive social change); the ability to guide or direct others on a course of action, influence the opinions and behaviors of others
No Stipend is offered at the moment.
